Plant Conservation Coordinator - Full Time

Job Summary
Encourage and motivate SSC plant Specialist Groups to advance global species conservation efforts across the Plan, Act, Network, and Communicate phases of the Species Conservation Cycle. Gather expertise to create strategic proposals, develop calls for action on specific species issues, and assist in drafting IUCN Resolutions and Recommendations. Contribute to formal documents, including periodic outcome and planning reporting for the annual SSC Data process. Bolster collaboration across the SSC network, governments, botanic gardens, and zoo communities to maximize conservation impact. Build relationships with training programs like CLP and EDGE Fellows to integrate emerging talent into the SSC network. Coordinate public engagement on plant conservation issues through resource development, social media, blogs, podcasts, and graphics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor level degree in biology, ecology, botany, natural resources management or related field
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience
- Demonstrated experience and a good understanding of the practical aspects of biodiversity conservation actions and policy especially relating to plants
- Working knowledge of the IUCN SSC, and leaders and stakeholders in plant conservation
- Strong skills in project management, planning and project implementation
- Experience with international projects and supporting new initiatives
- Evidence of experience working in / a deep understanding of international plant conservation related matters
- Experience in fundraising and/or demonstrated success in securing grants
- Fluency in English

Desired Qualifications
- International stakeholder management experience, multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience desirable
