Plant Automation Project Engineer

Job Summary
Manage full-scope projects from initial estimating and proposal submission through construction and start-up for manufacturing plants. Develop project scopes, estimate equipment and engineering costs, and prepare schedules for Appropriation Requests. Complete assignments within established scope, budget, and schedule while designing or overseeing construction drawing packages. Oversee field construction activities, handle multiple projects, and coordinate with existing facilities for maintenance, repair, and improvement initiatives. Specify and procure equipment and engineering services, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and process optimization goals.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- HMI/PLC programming and troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code and how to utilize it
- Familiarity of how to design power and motor circuits
- Knowledge of transformers, switchgear, and major power components and their specifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer skills ? Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, networking architecture, setup and troubleshooting, loading software and drivers
- Willingness to travel
- A willingness to travel as much 50% of the time
- Up to 25 lbs. lifting required
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of utility interface with the customer power systems a plus
- Experience in wallboard or equivalent manufacturing plant and process a plus
- Knowledge of AC variable speed drives and their specifications
- Knowledge of Motor Control Centers and their specifications
- Ability to specify and setup field instrumentation
- Familiarity with ARC Flash requirements and NFPA-70 a plus
- Familiarity of electrical system coordination studies and how to interpret a plus
