Job Summary
Operate EfW plant systems including combustion, boiler, and flue gas treatment processes while monitoring performance metrics like temperatures and pressures to ensure safe, compliant operation. Carry out routine inspections, logging, and first-line maintenance to support plant reliability, while identifying and reporting defects or non-compliances for timely escalation. Assist with outages, maintenance activities, and environmental or safety investigations as required. This 12-month fixed-term role is based at the Energy from Waste facility in Slough, supporting continuous waste processing and energy generation in line with HSE standards and environmental permit conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in an engineering or process-related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in EfW, power generation, or a similar heavy industrial/process environment
- Experience in a shift-based operations role within a continuous process plant
- Willingness to undertake further EfW-specific training and certifications
Desired Qualifications
- Technical qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or similar
- Awareness of Environmental Permit requirements and emissions compliance
- HSE-related training (e.g. IOSH, safety systems training)
- Practical knowledge of combustion processes, steam systems, or flue gas treatment
- Experience working to strict environmental and HSE regulations
- Familiarity with DCS/control systems, fault finding, and plant reporting systems
