Job Summary
Senior Plant and Wetland Ecologist to lead botany and wetland projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. Responsibilities include conducting plant community mapping, rare plant surveys, and wetland delineations; contributing to regulatory permit packages, mitigation, monitoring, and habitat restoration plans; preparing biological resource reports; coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies; and managing project staff and budgets. Opportunity to lead projects within a multidisciplinary team and advance toward managerial responsibilities. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience (advanced degree preferred), strong botany/plant ecology background, technical writing ability, proficiency with GIS/GPS, CEQA/NEPA knowledge, and experience with regulatory agencies and permitting. Field and office work with hybrid in-office/home arrangements; travel as needed for field surveys and projects.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree combined with sufficient directly relevant experience (advanced degree preferred)
- Experience in wetland delineation
- Experience with regulatory permitting
- Strong scientific writing ability
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in California flora and plant identification
- Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA and regulatory agency permitting
- Experience with USACE delineations and regulatory habitats mapping
