Job Summary
Review construction plans for code compliance in structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Conduct site visits and provide technical guidance to architects, engineers, and property owners. Support floodplain management and Community Rating System (CRS) initiatives. Maintain accurate records and assist with public awareness efforts related to building codes. Respond to inquiries and resolve issues with professionalism and efficiency. This role ensures safety and compliance in Hilton Head Island's sustainable coastal development, reporting directly to the Building Official.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years of relevant experience
- ICC Certification in Residential and Commercial Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical
- Certified Building Official
- Strong knowledge of construction methods
- Strong knowledge of inspection techniques
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines
