Job Summary
Lead the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and review of the borough's Local Plan and wider planning policy framework. Develop supplementary planning documents, design codes, masterplans, and neighbourhood plans to support sustainable growth. Commission evidence studies, manage consultancy projects, and provide expert policy advice to senior officers, elected members, and stakeholders. Oversee public consultation processes and build partnerships with regional bodies and community organisations. Monitor policy performance against emerging legislation and challenges including climate resilience and biodiversity recovery. Supervise specialist officers and mentor colleagues within the Place and Design Team.
Required Qualifications
- RTPI recognised degree level qualification in Town Planning or equivalent
- Eligibility or membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel and other relevant software enabling the review and maintenance of the Local Plan process
- Experienced user of GIS Software such as StatMap and QGIS
- Satisfactory employment references
- Satisfactory declaration of interest
- Fluent English with a command of spoken English, with confidence and accuracy, sufficient for the effective performance of their role
