Job Summary
Planning Coordinator to support the Planning Department in Kotzebue, AK, handling administration of planning functions, reviewing code amendments, coordinating permits, preparing written and verbal reports to municipal leadership, managing records and outreach, preparing comment letters on projects, and travel as needed; requires a college degree in planning-related fields, technical writing ability, proficiency with Arc GIS and/or AutoCAD or surveying, strong knowledge of Borough codes and statutes, and effective communication with residents.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- A College Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Natural Resources, Rural Development, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field of study appropriate for planning activities with local Experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis
- Technical writing experience
- Be able to consistently interpret Borough Code and State Statutes and adhere to specified regulations
- Possess knowledge of the Borough communities
- Trained in Arc GIS and/or AutoCAD and/or surveying and/or willing to learn
- Have the ability to communicate effectively with residents of the Northwest Arctic Borough
- Ability to travel as needed
