Job Summary
Review development applications and plans for compliance with zoning and land development regulations. Track projects from initial submittal through completion while monitoring mitigation measures. Assist developers, architects, contractors, and the public with development review processes and zoning questions. Participate in site visits, public outreach, and community engagement initiatives. Provide staff support to assigned boards and commissions. Conduct research and prepare reports for planning and special projects. Manage multiple applications and deadlines while communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Work primarily in an office environment with occasional field visits, including evening meetings or public hearings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, City Planning, Public Administration, Geography, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field
- one (1) year of related professional planning work experience or qualified internship
- equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid South Carolina driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with development review, site planning, architecture, or landscape architecture
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
