Job Summary
Conduct professional-level urban planning duties including case research, data collection, and analysis for processing site plans, plats, permit reviews, rezoning requests, and variances. Ensure development review consistency and historic preservation within the City of Richmond by collaborating with city departments, developers, and the community to implement the City's long-term vision. Manage daily priorities with high attention to detail while maintaining transparency and integrity in all interactions. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field, two to four years of municipal planning experience, and active APA membership. Full application and pre-employment screening required; position open until filled with first review on Friday, July 17, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or a closely related field
- Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of professional municipal or regional planning experience
- Must be able to work independently without supervision
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
- Active membership in the American Planning Association (APA)
- Eligibility/progress toward AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification

- An emphasis or coursework in historic preservation
