Job Summary
Review and process land use and zoning requests, evaluate land use applications, and conduct site inspections associated with land development. Receive citizen and applicant inquiries via email, telephone, and in person, then explain complex procedures, regulations, and code requirements. Negotiate with applicants to seek solutions to issues or concerns and manage files for assigned current planning and other land use applications. Prepare staff analysis, appropriate conclusions, and written documents with clearly organized information for each case handled. Complete permitting activities for compliance with Development Code and research and report on requests and special projects. Occasional local travel within the County is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in planning or related field
- One (1) year of experience working in the public sector or for a municipality in planning
- AICP certification or ability to obtain in one (1) year
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Conditions of employment: Candidates must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and employment eligibility verification

- Pre-employment screenings include a motor vehicle record search
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- ArcGIS or ArcGIS Urban experience
- Urban Design experience
- Specialized expertise in community engagement, project management, process improvement, digital engagement, or graphic communication
- Experience in permitting and development review processes
