Job Summary
Manage all aspects of tasks from job scoping to completion by working with ship personnel to define boundaries, reviewing drawings for materials, and tracking progress in Microsoft Project. Develop and update Technical Work Instructions (TWIs), halting work to seek guidance when instructions conflict with existing conditions or tests fail acceptance criteria. Research and develop responses to Condition Reports to document configuration issues and scope growth, while providing feedback to the Program Manager, Government Reps, and OSIC. Requires six years of experience in developing work packages and TWIs for ship maintenance, plus three years supervising technical support for HM&E ship systems. Full-time role in Norfolk, VA with potential travel; salary ranges from $60,000 to $110,000 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of high school, trade, or industrial school
- Minimum of six years of experience in developing work packages and TWIs for ship maintenance
- 3 years of experience in the supervision of technical support for Alteration/SC installation, maintenance and repair of HM&E ship systems
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
- Must possess advanced computer skills to enter data into different databases
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to communicate with OSIC and government officials
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals
- Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets (MDS)
- Able to follow safety procedures
- May be required to travel for work to other locations
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required on a regular basis to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and/or hear
- Frequently the employee is required to carry objects that might weigh up to 50 pounds
