Planner (2nd Shift)

Job Summary
Plan and schedule daily inbound and outbound shipments to meet delivery commitments and service-level agreements while optimizing routing, load consolidation, and carrier selection. Coordinate with carriers, drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to confirm pickup and delivery appointments, monitoring shipments in transit to proactively resolve delays and exceptions. Tender loads to carriers, negotiate rates, and track on-time delivery metrics, ensuring all planning complies with DOT, FMCSA, and California hours-of-service regulations. Analyze transportation data to identify cost-savings and develop contingency plans for disruptions. Work the 2nd shift from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a minimum of two years of experience in transportation planning required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation planning, dispatch, or logistics coordination
- Working knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and route-optimization tools
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, and California hours-of-service and transportation regulations
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field
- Experience with leading TMS platforms (e.g., Oracle OTM, MercuryGate, SAP TM)
- APICS/ASCM certification (e.g., CLTD, CPIM) or equivalent
- Experience in a high-volume third-party logistics (3PL) or distribution environment
- Familiarity with LTL/FTL operations, freight brokerage, and carrier contract management
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills
- Experience using data-analysis or business-intelligence reporting tools
