Review and approve building and construction plans to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations; interpret and apply ICC codes and ordinances; communicate code requirements clearly to architects, engineers, contractors, and the public; conduct periodic field inspections to verify construction matches approved plans; maintain accurate records to support permitting, inspections, and compliance efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of experience as a building inspector with a government organization
- Three years of experience as a plans examiner
- ICC Certification as Building Plans Examiner or ability to obtain certification within six months of start date
Desired Qualifications
- ICC Certification as Building Plans Examiner or ability to obtain within six months
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or related field (preferred)
- Supervisory experience (preferred)
- At least five years of experience as a building inspector with a government organization
- At least three years of experience as a plans examiner
- At least two years of enforcement-related experience (property maintenance, building, sign, zoning, and codes) (preferred)
