Job Summary
Plan Approval Manager for USA Plan Office (UPO) in Houston, TX. Responsible for overseeing plan approval activities in the U.S. and Canada, serving as main point of contact with clients and external stakeholders (USCG, Transport Canada, engineering firms) for PA-related inquiries, and preparing quotations for Local Plan Office services across hull, machinery, electrical/automation, fire & safety, and stability. Develop strategy to achieve UPO independence to serve North America, including surveyor training and development. Daily management of the UPO team (procedures, lean management, reporting), and collaboration with Head Office and BV network. Support PA activities of other LPOs, manage subcontracting within the LPO network for work outside UPO’s delegations, oversee and manage UPO team qualifications, attend internal/external meetings, coordinate client PA inquiries, prepare and manage audits, and drive knowledge sharing and rules development in partnership with HO. Initiatives to improve team performance, and manage special tasks/contracts as delegated by the CTS Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering or a closely related field, plus two (2) years of marine industry experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field plus five (5) years of marine industry experience. Experience with SOLAS, MARPOL, ICLL; proficiency in FEMAP, ANSYS, NASA NASTRAN; training/supervising junior engineers and/or interns; involvement in bid and proposal preparation for marine/offshore projects.
