Pivot Irrigation Technician -302

Job Summary
Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on center pivots, including electrical and mechanical parts, gearboxes, and tires. Perform troubleshooting on control circuits, interpret schematics, and install wire connections while adhering to USDA quality controls for food safety. Start up and shut down irrigation systems, repair broken equipment to minimize downtime, and maintain records on water, fertilizer, and chemical applications. Work a diverse on-call schedule during the irrigation season, cross-train operators, and maintain tool inventory and vehicle standards. Comply with all safety precautions during aerial spraying and field operations.
Required Qualifications
- Irrigation Technician Certificate, or directly related college courses in Electronics Technology, Irrigation Technology, or Mechanics
- One (1) year progressive experience in irrigation systems or technology
- Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures and technical manuals. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, contractors, supervisors and co-workers
- Navajo Agricultural Products Industry's (NAPI) goal and intention to strictly adhere to the NEPA in all employment practices and hire qualified Navajo Personnel for all positions. Tribal sovereignty support and Navajo preference initiatives are mandatory
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited two-year college or university in Electronics Technology, Irrigation Technology, Mechanics, or directly related discipline
- One (1) year of FLSA non-exempt level experience in agricultural irrigation system maintenance may be substituted for the Associate's degree requirement
- Navajo preference will be applied in accordance with the Navajo Preference in Employment Act (NPEA)
- Bi-lingual (English/Navajo)
