Job Summary
Prepare complex calculations, review simple designs, and document design inputs for P&IDs and Master Diagrams. Evaluate piping systems for hydraulic transients, thermal stratification, and corrosion effects while developing vibration mitigation solutions. Support engineering projects by preparing specifications, bid evaluations, and reports, then monitor work against project budgets and schedules. Communicate technical findings to project teams and vendors using clear written and oral skills. This role supports nuclear power projects, including SMRs and commercial reactor restarts, with a hybrid schedule requiring three days in-office.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering, from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program, with an emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis
- 3 or more years of relevant experience
- Must have knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes
- Knowledge of the design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week

Desired Qualifications
- P.E. license
- Working knowledge of commercially available piping products and their application
- The ability to navigate a 3D CAD model
- Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software
- Knowledge of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients
- Knowledge of pipe condition assessment
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
