Job Summary
Perform quality assurance inspections and oversight on piping, welding, and mechanical activities for capital and turnaround projects. Verify that all work meets applicable codes (ASME, API, etc.), project specifications, and standards. Review and approve contractor quality documentation, including ITPs, weld maps, WPS/PQRs, material certifications, and test reports. Conduct field walkdowns to ensure proper installation, fit-up, and alignment of piping and mechanical systems. Witness pressure testing, bolt torqueing, and other critical QA/QC hold points as required. Monitor contractor quality control teams, track and resolve non-conformance reports, and ensure accurate turnover documentation packages are prepared. Work closely with project engineers, construction supervisors, and contractors to support safe and timely project delivery.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of piping/mechanical QA/QC experience in refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects
- Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, API standards, and refinery mechanical codes
- Experience with welding processes, procedures, and documentation
- Familiarity with pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, and bolted joint assembly
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and construction drawings
- Strong communication skills and ability to interface with contractors, engineers, and site leadership
- Prior refinery or large capital project experience required
- Certifications (CWI, API 570/510, or equivalent)
