Job Summary
Piping Engineer for nuclear projects based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Responsibilities include following QA programs and codes for design of nuclear piping systems; coordinating with clients, suppliers and other design disciplines; participating in conceptual, preliminary and/or detailed design of CANDU/nuclear process systems; performing engineering computations and analyses using PipeStress, CaesarII, AutoPipe, MATLAB, MathCAD, ANSYS Mechanical, LSDYNA; modeling complex piping and supports; conducting pipe stress evaluations per ASME Seção III, Div.1 and ASME B31.1; performing thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear and nonlinear analyses; preparing Design Change Packages (DCP) and Design Change Notices (DCN); preparing TSSA registration packages for pressure boundary modifications; providing guidance to Designers/Drafters and junior staff; supporting field construction and commissioning, site visits, and field walk-downs; ensuring work delivered within budget and schedule with quality. Ideal candidate has an Mechanical Engineering degree, 1–10 years of experience (Junior to Senior), knowledge of nuclear CANDU systems preferred, familiarity with relevant standards, willingness to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) though not required routinely, and strong English communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Engineering Degree in Mechanical from an accredited university
- minimum 1, 5 or 10 years of experience corresponding to Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels in mechanical engineering within heavy industrial environments (mining, oil & gas, power, nuclear)
- basic knowledge of mechanical piping systems
- familiarity with CSA N285.0, CSA B51, CSA N289 and ASME Section III and ANSI B31.1 codes
- experience in piping design for nuclear-class systems and associated stress analysis tools
- good written and spoken English
