Piping Drafter

Job Summary

Review and interpret designs and drawings prepared by client engineers, then generate construction drawings and resolve design problems with project managers and shop supervisors. Develop and maintain project material trackers to identify shortages, while creating drawing sets using the SpoolFab program with accuracy and efficiency. Maintain the Pipe Fabrication Drawing Log, perform daily audits of Quality Control Progress Reports, and spot-check drawings and material lists for errors. Support estimating teams by generating spreadsheets for tracking, scheduling, and bidding on upcoming projects. This role requires a 7:30–4:30 office environment with flexibility for evenings and weekends, reporting to the Drafting Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 - 3+ years fitting or welding experience
  • Desire to work in a 7:30 -4:30 office environment - Open to working evenings and weekends for overtime as projects require
  • Drafting experience (SpoolFab and/or Acorn Pipe)
  • Basic understanding of the fabrication process
  • Basic understanding of modular construction
  • Advanced understanding of piping materials
  • Advanced knowledge of piping assembly (field installation and yard assembly)
  • Able to interpret isometric drawings, Piping and Instrumentation diagrams, and Engineered Structural drawings
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel

Desired Qualifications

  • A design and drafting diploma or equivalent education is an asset
