Job Summary
Piper I performs brazing to install refrigeration components and assists with unit layout and setup, including measuring, cutting, bending, assembling and installing copper and steel tubing; uses torch to braze copper to copper pipes; operates copper saw and tube bender; flare making; suction and discharge piping; pressurizes and leak checks units. Tools include tube cutters, hand vise, power benders, files, flaring/swaging tools, and torch. Requires high school diploma or GED (or 3–6 months related experience), ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures, and mathematical skills (basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry) to solve practical problems. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or 3-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
