Job Summary
To maintain, fabricate, install, weld and dismantle all types of pipelines, fittings and hydraulics as required for new construction or maintenance. Confers with supervisor at the start of each shift to determine work priorities; receives instructions, blueprints, and work orders; develops procedures, material requirements, scaffolding and equipment; calculates dimensions and bends for piping. Installs, bends, cuts, threads, welds, and fabricates pipe to job specifications. Inspects and maintains facility piping systems, heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, water treatment and sewer systems, burners and heaters. Sets up and operates bending, threading, and cutoff equipment; installs insulation and pipe coverings; disposes old coverings per hazardous waste procedures and EPA/OSHA requirements. Performs hydraulic pressure tests of piping installations; adjusts controls, gauges, and valves to control flow and pressure. Notifies supervision of potentially dangerous piping systems and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- Technical 2-year associates degree and/or 5 years as a pipefitter in an industrial facility
- Manual dexterity skills
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints
- Ability to effectively communicate with written and verbal communications
- Satisfactory work records including attendance
- Ability to pass Huhtamaki hands-on pipefitter test
