Job Summary
Pipeline Optimization Engineer at ONEOK leads steady-state or transient hydraulic modeling for existing assets and expansion projects to optimize capacity and operating costs. The role involves building and validating system models, analyzing data to identify optimization opportunities, implementing new processes to improve modeling efficiency and accuracy, and providing operational guidance to Operations Control and Scheduling. Responsibilities include evaluating potential projects with economic modeling and documentation, engaging cross-functional teams to ensure value realization, and communicating findings to leadership. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 7+ years of engineering/pipeline design experience, expertise with hydraulic modeling tools (SPS, Fathom, Synergi Gas, PipelineOptimizer, ProMax, VMG Sim), familiarity with pumps/compressor/storage facilities, and proficiency with BI/analytical tools (PI, Spotfire). Strong communication, leadership, and collaborative skills are required; knowledge of pipeline hydraulics, operations, regulations, and project management is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software (SPS, Fathom, Synergi Gas, Emerson PipelineOptimizer, ProMax, VMG Sim, etc.)
- Experience with pumps, compressor stations, and/or storage facilities preferred
- Experience with BI/analytical tools (PI, Spotfire) preferred
- Minimum 7 years of engineering and pipeline design/operation experience
- Knowledge of hydraulic modeling concepts, software, and tools
- Ability to read/interpret governmental regulations (DOT 195 and 192) and related documents
- Strong analytical and leadership skills
- Ability to lead groups and manage multiple assignments
