Job Summary
Drive crew production by operating machinery, installing pipe at grade, and benching manholes while reading drawings and identifying soil types. Mentor labourers, ensure proper gravel placement, and manage rigging procedures for PVC, HDPE, and concrete pipelines. Adhere to HSE policies, including respirator fit-testing and ground disturbance protocols, while exposing buried utilities and supporting site organization. Work flexible hours including overtime and weekends to meet project deadlines in the Nanaimo area.
Required Qualifications
- Work on jobsites in the Nanaimo area
- Minimum 2 years as a civil pipelayer
- High School or Equivalent
- Ground Disturbance Lv. 2
- Confined Space
- Fall Protection
- First Aid
- Physical fitness for high-intensity tasks
- Lift up to 50lbs
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as necessary to meet project deadlines
- Only residents in the Vancouver Island are of BC will be considered
- Can read drawings
- Identify soil types
- Understands correct amount of gravel placement around pipe prior to backfill
- Understands proper setup and utilization of laser
- Basic understanding of site drawings
- Installs pipe at grade (PVC, HDPE, Concrete)
- Understands and utilizes proper rigging procedure including choosing the correct rigging, clutches & shackles
- Benching/Installation of manholes & catch basins
- Exposing and supporting buried utilities
- You are motivated with a leadership attitude

- Effective verbal and written English communication skills
