Job Summary
Install underground pipe systems including RCP, HDPE, and PVC in accordance with plans and specifications. Perform basic math calculations for pipe grades, slopes, and elevations while interpreting layout markings, stakes, and cut sheets. Ensure proper bedding, alignment, and joint installation, assisting with setting pipes to grade using lasers, levels, or grade stakes. Follow and enforce trench safety requirements, including shoring, sloping, and access/egress, while working safely around heavy equipment in an active highway construction environment. Identify and report unsafe conditions, improper installations, or plan discrepancies. Inspect and test installed pipe systems and pipelines, maintaining knowledge of the Company's values and strategic plan.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with tools including drills, saws, welding torches, press fitting tools, and drain cleaning tools
- Working knowledge of pipe installation requirements for RCP, HDPE, and CMP
- Ability to perform simple math related to grades, slopes, and measurements
- Strong understanding of trench safety standards (OSHA or equivalent)
- Previous experience in heavy civil or highway construction
- Prior pipe laying experience
