Job Summary
Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-pressure steam, hydronic heat, chilled water, and plumbing systems across a military facility. Diagnose and fix system performance deficiencies, including leaks, flow restrictions, and control valve issues. Perform seasonal startup, shutdown, testing, and replacement of pumps, safety valves, and associated piping components. Read blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications to fabricate and assemble pipes while recording maintenance data in management systems. Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency service calls. Work independently in physically demanding indoor and outdoor environments following established safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' experience maintaining and repairing one or more of the following systems: chilled water, steam, hot water, or natural gas distribution systems and associated mechanical equipment
- Ability to obtain boiler operator certification and/or boiler plant qualifications required to support high-pressure steam generating equipment
- Able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance, including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation
- Maintain valid State of Michigan driver's license and remain insurable to operate Company vehicles
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background check, and motor vehicle report
- Must be able to lift 24 pounds
- Must be able to lift items over 25 pounds with assistance from other workers and lifting devices
