Job Summary
Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using saws, cutting torches, and benders. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, and fittings by welding, brazing, cementing, and soldering. Attach piping to walls, structures, and fixtures with brackets or welding equipment. Plan pipe system layouts and measure pipes for cutting. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems using pressure gauges and hydrostatic testing. Cross-train in millwrighting, welding, sheet metal, and civil trades to meet customer job requests. Perform duties on mechanical, electrical, and rigging projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- two years related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to regularly stand
- Ability to frequently walk
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
