Job Summary
Lay out, install, maintain, and repair all types of piping systems for maintenance, tank, and new construction projects. Interpret drawings and sketches to plan working procedures, then set up bending, threading, and cutoff equipment to fabricate pipe for high- and low-pressure pipelines handling air, water, steam, oils, gases, acids, and caustics. Test, inspect, dismantle, and replace fittings and fixtures while fastening hangers and supports. Handle materials and tools between shop and field sites, make sketches when needed, and report work performed. Identify safety hazards and take corrective action to minimize risks. Work long periods up to 12 hours a day in elements including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind, adhering to PPE requirements and climbing heights up to 300 feet with proper fall protection.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience
- Must be able to pass the Pipefitter Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft
- Must have experience interpreting engineering drawings & P&ID's
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the approved drug testing program
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
- Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind
- Must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots
- Must be able to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs
- Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms
- Will work at heights up to 300' utilizing proper fall protection
- Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools
- Will talk and hear to communicate
- Must have a general knowledge of basic hand tools
