Job Summary
Measure and mark pipes for cutting, threading, and welding; lay out full-scale drawings from blueprints; and plan pipe system layouts for installation and repair. Assemble pipe sections using couplings, clamps, and welding equipment, then fill pipes with water or air to detect leaks using pressure gauges. Hang steel supports, cut openings in structures, and install underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems. Occasionally oversee laborers, teach trade skills, and escalate safety hazards or errors. Requires 5+ years of HVAC pipefitting experience, ability to work nights and overtime, and valid driver's license. Base rate $23–$34/hr.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school, vocational school, or training equivalent.
- 5+ years of related experience in pipefitting work on a variety of installations.
- Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and oral instructions under limited supervision.
- Must be construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques, tools, and equipment employed in the joining, jointing, cutting, bending, threading of all types of HVAC piping.
- General knowledge of the hazards of the trade and necessary precautionary measures.
- Willingness and ability to work nights and overtime on an as-needed basis.
- Capacity to leverage leadership skills to facilitate learning, teamwork, and collaborative relationships.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have a driving record compliant with the Company's policies and MVR requirements, and consent to ongoing driving record monitoring by the Company.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs frequently.
- Must be able to lift 10 lbs constantly.
- Must be available for travel up to 15%.
Desired Qualifications
- Rigging and Signaling Certification.
- Forklift Certification.
- Aerial and Scissor Lift Certification.
- Completed OSHA 30-Hour Training.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
