Job Summary
Interpret technical drawings and recreate piping details in shop and field environments. Bolt, clamp, and weld metal components of piping systems, plates, and structural shapes using arc and gas welding equipment in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. Remove, fabricate, and weld in fixed equipment repair panels, while performing repairs to boiler and exchanger tubes and tube sheets. Select pipe types, sizes, and materials according to job specifications, and plan guying layouts for assembly and welding. This hourly position at AdvanSix's Hopewell South facility supports global supply chains for nylon solutions, chemical intermediates, and plant nutrients. Candidates must be licensed Journeyman-level pipefitters or welders with five years of industrial experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Licensed Journeyman-level pipefitter/welder or successful completion of state certified apprenticeship program or equivalent relative craft
- 5 years industrial experience
- 5 yrs Experience in pipefitting and/or welding
Desired Qualifications
- Pipefitter have welding experience preferred
- Knowledge of the tools, principles, methods, and techniques used in the pipefitting and welding trades
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ability to comply with OSHA procedures
- Ability to performing minor rigging and signaling of cranes
- Ability to operate and maintain grinding equipment
- Ability to fabricate and roll plate
- Ability to read and interpret structural and isometric drawings
- Ability to perform basic math computations
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
