Job Summary
Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing. Read field, sketches, and engineering drawings; connect flanged pipe using cross pattern bolting; and utilize tape measures, framing squares, and power tools for cutting, welding, threading, and bolting. Cut, thread, and bend pipe; assemble metal and nonmetal fittings; join via threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints; and secure pipe with clamps, brackets, supports, and hangers. Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, and controls; test piping for leaks; and inspect worksites for obstructions and structural weaknesses. Perform additional assignments per supervisor direction while complying with job site safety requirements and wearing proper PPE.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
- A-class Pipefitter requires basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches and engineering drawings
- Have basic knowledge of how to connect flanged pipe connections using a cross pattern bolting technique
- Be able to read and utilize a tape measure properly
- Be able to understand and utilize a framing square as it is applicable to pipefitting tasks
- Must know how to properly utilize power tools to prepare pipe for cutting, welding, threading and bolting
- A-class pipefitters must be able to make accurate and precise weld connection fit ups
- Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
- Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
- lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead
