Job Summary
Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using saws, cutting torches, and threaders. Attach pipes to walls and fixtures with brackets, clamps, or welding equipment. Measure and mark pipes for cutting, plan system layouts, and select sizes and materials like supports and hydraulic cylinders. Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines using hand and power tools. Install automatic controls, turn valves to shut off fluids, remove worn components, and inspect sites for obstructions. Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas and dip nonferrous piping materials in molten tin and lead. Requires 4 years of Journeyman-level experience, NCCER certification, and a valid driver's license. Work involves lifting up to 50 pounds, working in industrial environments, and wearing required PPE.
