Job Summary
Welds a variety of metal surfaces or pipe for vessels, tanks or other structural assemblies using SMAW, Flux-Core, TIG and air arc welding. Performs plate and 6G pipe tests, requires 3+ years journeyman experience, certification to operate high-reach equipment, and ability to read/understand English safety instructions. Must work all shifts and at heights; shipbuilding process knowledge preferred; physical dexterity and safety compliance emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three years journeyman level experience
- Knowledge of welding process and various types of welding equipment
- Proficient in SMAW, Flux-Core (FCAW), TIG and air arc welding
- Must pass plate test in all positions and pipe test on 6G restricted fix position using FCAW and GTAW
- Must be certified to operate high reach equipment
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions in English
- Must be able to hear warning signals and read safety instructions
