Job Summary
Perform welding on commercial piping systems using SMAW, GTAW, and/or MIG processes. Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols to execute high-quality welds. Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and fitting pipes to specifications, then inspect welds to ensure they meet industry standards. Maintain welding equipment and tools while following all safety regulations and job site protocols. Collaborate with supervisors, pipefitters, and other trades to complete projects efficiently. This role requires passing a 6G weld certification test and 2+ years of experience in commercial or industrial construction. Overtime, weekends, and travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Must pass a 6G pipe welding certification test
- 2+ years of experience as a pipe welder in commercial or industrial construction
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and equipment
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS)
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- May require overtime, weekends, and travel depending on project needs
Desired Qualifications
- Current welding certifications (AWS, ASME, or equivalent)
- OSHA safety training (e.g., OSHA 10 or 30)
- Preferred 5 years of experience as a pipe welder in commercial or industrial construction
