Job Summary
Install and lay water and sewer pipes, including ductile water line and PVC sewer pipe; align and grade pipes for water/sewer installations, backfill and ensure positive flow, and plan pipe installations according to specifications. Read and follow plans, select pipe types/sizes, cut and thread pipes, and weld/seal joints. Position pipes, perform trenches and grading with level and laser, and ensure conformance to requirements. Inspect, test (hydrostatic or other methods), and certify installed systems; secure pipes to structures with clamps/hangers; perform measurements, marking, and cutting for required lengths. Work at construction sites in outdoor conditions, requiring physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and readiness for possible overtime. Pre-employment drug screening is required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Two (2) years to three (3) years of related experience laying underground water lines, sanitary or storm sewers required
- Three (3) plus years of related experience preferred
- Passing a pre-employment drug screen is required
