Job Summary
Two skilled pipe layers needed for heavy highway construction projects. Responsibilities include acquiring tools, setting up pipe laser and forms, measuring distances and grades, aligning and blocking up under forms, signaling operators for equipment, leveling earth to grade specifications, mixing concrete, finishing concrete, establishing pipe sections, erecting scaffolding/shoring/braces, performing pipe work preparation and connections, backfilling with equipment like Wacker and jumping jack, using cut saws to ensure proper pipe length, verifying grades with laser or conventional methods, and ensuring proper pipe slope and readiness of structures for installation. Preferred candidates have OSHA or safety certifications and three years of related experience; basic verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills are required. The role involves regular exposure to outdoor conditions, physical exertion, and adherence to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- One year of relevant heavy highway construction experience
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Experience in underground utilities such as storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and structures
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
