Pipe Layer - Water/Sewer Division

Job Summary
Operate concrete saws, excavators, and laser guidance equipment to install sewer, water, and storm drain pipes while positioning and joining materials. Cut concrete, ductile iron, and PVC pipe; dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth to grade specifications. Signal equipment operators to adjust machinery and load/unload construction materials. Lubricate, clean, and repair tools, then prepare work areas to eliminate hazards. Control traffic in work zones if certified. Perform general construction tasks on commercial and highway projects with predictable, reliable attendance. Must be 18 years old with at least one year of pipe layer experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old
- Minimum 1 year working as a pipe layer or as a member of a pipe crew
- Must have predictable and reliable attendance
- Ability to continuously work around noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment
- Ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly
- Ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions
- Ability to pull and lift or move heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds)
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required
- Certified to control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones
