Job Summary
Pipe Layer responsible for preparing and laying pipe for storm drains, sanitary sewers, waterlines, and other pipelines. Duties include excavating and shoring trenches, bedding and backfilling, aligning pipes with lasers/levels, and ensuring pipes are on grade and airtight. Supports Foreman in monitoring progress and maintaining safety and efficiency. Requires 2+ years of heavy civil construction experience, proficiency with lasers and survey stakes, knowledge of soils and shoring, ability to read blueprints, and strong math and problem-solving skills. Must have a valid driver's license, and participate in pre-employment and random drug screening and background checks. Based in Herndon, Virginia with in-person work arrangement.
Required Qualifications

- Background screening
- 2+ years of experience as a Pipe Layer in heavy civil construction
- Experience with lasers, transits, grade rods, and line levels
- Knowledge of soils, shoring, OSHA trenching and sloping guidelines
- Understanding of survey stakes, cuts, fills, and elevations
- Ability to read blueprints and lay out pipe routes
- Ability to set up pipe laser in manholes and establish line; enter slope in laser
- Ability to read grade rod tenths; work with different soil types and conditions
- Ability to adapt methods to varying ground conditions
- Capable of installing pipes on shallow grades and structures that are oversized
- Ability to pace the crew and manage workflow
- Based in Herndon, VA area with 2+ years of pipe layer experience
