Job Summary
Pipe Layer to perform general and skilled duties to prepare the grade and to install storm drain, concrete, metal and other types of pipes to the proposed elevation, slope and percent of grade. Will perform other related duties such as pouring footers and installing precast and masonry drainage structures. Tasks include grading and pipe installation, shoveling or leveling stone or dirt, masonry and concrete work, trenching/excavation work, and operating tools such as shovel, broom, pick, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer or drill, tamp, and concrete saw; may operate equipment like a front loader or small compactors. Requires 2 years of experience in pipe installation, masonry experience, and a valid NC driver license. Must be reliable, a team player, and able to maintain attendance and safety. Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and long shifts (12–15 hours) in varying temperatures are expected.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years' experience in installing storm drainage and other pipe installation
- Masonry experience
- Encourage a valid NC Driver License
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks of the pipe operation
- Ability to abide by precise instructions and strict but necessary safety rules and policies of trenching and excavation
- Must be a reliable and trustworthy individual that will be a team player
- Maintain a good attendance and safety record
- Standing, walking, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting; lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Willingness to ride to and from work in personal vehicle
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- Full-time schedule with long hours and deadlines
