Job Summary
Pipe Laborer responsibilities include acquiring tools, setting up daily operations, measuring distances from grade stakes, driving stakes, and stretching lines. Perform pipe-related duties such as joining, aligning, and sealing pipe sections; erect scaffolding; and assist with backfilling, grading, mixing concrete, and finishing cement. Operate pipe-related equipment (laser, Wacker, jumping jack), prep pipe for connections, check grades with laser or manual methods, ensure proper pipe slope, and perform pipe connections. Requires experience in heavy highway construction, knowledge of underground utilities (storm/ sanitary sewer, water main), strong communication and problem-solving skills, and ability to meet physical demands; OSHA or safety certifications preferred.
Required Qualifications
- One year of relevant heavy highway construction experience
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Experienced in underground utilities such as storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and structures
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements
