Job Summary
Operate hydraulic excavators to perform precise digging, trenching, and grading for utility installation and large-scale excavation projects. Read construction plans, grade stakes, and laser levels while ensuring safe and efficient equipment operation in compliance with OSHA standards. Conduct daily equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and report mechanical issues. Collaborate with crew members, site supervisors, and project managers across heavy civil construction sites from New Jersey to Virginia Beach. This role supports infrastructure development including highways, bridges, and public water and wastewater systems.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating excavators in heavy civil construction (water mains, storm, or sanitation sewers)
- Valid driver's license
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in mainline pipe installation or mass excavation
- Ability to work with GPS machine control systems
- CDL
