Job Summary
Pipe Foreperson at Landis C. Deck & Sons Division (H&K Group) directs crew activities for highway and pipeline construction projects. Responsibilities include reading blueprints and job-related documents to plan work, scheduling materials and equipment for the crew, maintaining a daily job diary, leading daily huddles to set production goals, communicating goals to the crew, mentoring and training crew members, and coordinating with customer representatives and inspectors. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience, strong leadership and communication skills, proficiency in math and geometry concepts, ability to read technical documents, basic computer skills, a valid driver’s license, ability to fit test and use PPE, and the physical ability to perform job duties. OSHA safety awareness and willingness to travel/perform field duties are implied by the role and environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university OR one year of related experience and/or training
- Ability to read blueprints and job-related documents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Mathematical skills including probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Problem solving
- Basic computer skills including Internet, email, and the use of digital cameras for work documentation
- Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- Two years of related experience and/or training
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
