Job Summary
Review blueprint drawings and specifications, then lay out large and small diameter mechanical piping for equipment including clarifiers, filters, chemical rooms, aeration basins, fine screens, and pumps. Monitor safety for on-site personnel and subcontractors while assisting the Project Superintendent with labor monitoring. Execute equipment installation, alignment, and anchoring using knowledge of crane rigging, signaling, and various piping materials such as PVC, steel, SST, and DIP. Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as needed. Work full-time with occasional overtime and weekend availability at professional construction sites in Alamogordo, New Mexico, navigating uneven surfaces and extreme weather conditions while maintaining attention to safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least Five (5) years of experience installing piping and equipment on multi-functional water/wastewater projects
- Ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone
- Ability to read printed materials, signs and directions
- Stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders
- Ability to balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements
- Ability to navigate and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner
- Ability to work outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures
- Ability to work while exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris
- Full-time availability
- Availability for occasional overtime
- Availability for weekend work
- Passing a pre-employment drug screen
