Job Summary
Interpret isometric drawings, shop drawings, and schematics to plan pipe layouts and sequences. Measure, cut, thread, groove, and bend metals such as carbon steel and stainless steel to exact dimensions. Fit up and join pipe sections using welding or threaded fittings, then perform pressure and leak tests to verify safety and regulatory compliance. Repair or replace worn-out valves, fittings, and damaged pipe sections in industrial or commercial plants. Adhere strictly to OSHA guidelines, site-specific procedures, and Lock Out Tag Out protocols while lifting heavy materials and working at heights. Candidates must hold NCCER certification, possess at least three years of experience, and pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
Required Qualifications
- NCCER certification
- at least 3 years of pipefitting experience
- High school diploma
- formal trade school training
- an apprenticeship program
- verifiable field experience
- Proficiency with power tools
- Proficiency with torch cutters
- Proficiency with threading machines
- Proficiency with basic welding processes
- Ability to lift heavy materials (50lbs)
- Ability to stand or kneel for long periods
- Ability to work in tight spaces or at heights
- Strict adherence to OSHA guidelines
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Site specific guidelines and procedures with elevated work
- Site specific guidelines and procedures with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Active TWIC Card
