Job Summary
Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner, ensuring airworthiness through daily flight log sign-offs and complete walk-around inspections. Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards while maintaining final authority for operations and passenger safety. Complete required documentation, verify weather conditions, and ensure medical flight teams are familiar with aircraft and medical systems within assigned operational areas. Participate regularly in meetings, activities, and community outreach projects. Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, and hospitals.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- Two to five years' related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Weight not to exceed 250 pounds
- Less than seventy (70) years old
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals and the public
- Maintains a friendly and professional working environment
- Flown in category within the previous 24 months
- 2500 total flight hours
- Minimum of 2000 flight hours in category
- 1000 hours PIC in category
- 500 hours of cross-country flight time
- At least 50 hours of cross-country flight time at night
- 500 hours of turbine time
- 100 hours night flight time
- 100 hours of flight in actual instrument conditions in category
- Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft)
- ATP rating in category
- Fixed wing multiengine rating
- Commercial single-engine land rating
- First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate
- Regular scheduled attendance
- 7 days on/7 days off (12-hour shifts)
- Ability to perform pre-flight verification of aircraft airworthiness
- Ability to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR)
- Knowledge of Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM)
- Knowledge of General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM)
- Thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures
- Ability to ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy
- Final authority with regard to operations of aircraft and for the safety of passengers, cargo and equipment
- Ability to ensure medical flight team is familiar with medical interior and systems
- Ability to complete required documentation
- Ability to participate regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach
