Job Summary
Teach four sections of Physics, including honors, to 9th-grade conceptual Physics and design and facilitate laboratory investigations and project-based learning experiences. Foster a student-centered classroom that develops scientific thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving. Potentially teach advanced physics coursework or electives as the program grows. Collaborate with Science Department colleagues on curriculum development, vertical alignment, and interdisciplinary STEM initiatives; communicate effectively with students, families, and counselors; engage in advising, coaching, or mentorship. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in physics, Science Education, or related field (Master’s preferred) and strong physics content knowledge; on-site in Kensington,_MD. The role emphasizes laboratory-based instruction, data analysis, safety, and real-world application, with opportunities to contribute to engineering, maker space, robotics, and other innovation-focused programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, Science Education, or a related scientific field required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- High school teaching experience preferred but not required.
- Strong physics content knowledge and interest in inquiry-based, laboratory, and project-based instruction.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to supporting a diverse range of learners.
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the broader school community.
