Job Summary
Teach first-year physics and astronomy courses and supervise laboratory sessions. Responsibilities include delivering lectures and labs (and related activities such as seminars, tutorials, field trips, online or hybrid classes), preparing and delivering course materials, assessing student learning through assignments and exams, and providing weekly office hours and advising. The role includes supervising and organizing a laboratory, developing supporting materials as needed, maintaining competency in the relevant fields, and participating in departmental, faculty, and university committees. Lab supervision duties involve guiding laboratory sessions, evaluating students when required, coordinating with instructors, and assisting with equipment and resource acquisitions. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in teaching and an ability to teach physics and astronomy to first-year undergraduate students in both lecture and laboratory settings; preferred qualifications include near completion of a PhD in Physics or a Master’s degree in Physics with strong teaching credentials. The position is a combined non-regular instructor and non-regular lab supervisor role, part-time and temporary, with sections distributed across Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer terms, beginning 09/01/2026 in North Vancouver.
