Job Summary
The Physician provides comprehensive primary care to homeless and underserved populations, managing chronic illnesses such as HIV and diabetes, and conducting both scheduled and walk-in appointments. Responsibilities include initiating treatment, generating referrals, documenting according to agency standards, and offering health education. Ideal candidates are licensed physicians with board certification in Internal or Family Medicine, experience with diverse and vulnerable communities, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. Bilingual skills are preferred, and the role requires adherence to ethical standards and agency policies. This position does not offer relocation assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Physician Licensed to Practice in the State of New York
- Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Current DEA certificate
- Achieve and maintain HIV specialist status (preferred)
- Possess or obtain within first 90 days of employment a DATA Waiver for Buprenorphine Prescribing authority
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish or English/French)
- Experience in caring for people living with HIV, populations with experiences of homelessness, substance use disorders, and mental illness
- Experience in caring for immigrant communities
- Desire and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Proficient in use of electronic medical record systems and other technology required for use in the delivery of care
- Positive interpersonal skills with staff, clients, and others
- Willingness to work off hours on special projects
