Job Summary
Educate potential donors on the plasmapheresis process, product safety, and use of plasma. Perform physical examinations, take medical histories, and evaluate donor suitability in accordance with FDA, OHSA, CLIA, and cGMP guidelines. Counsel donors on deferrals based on test results and health history. Maintain confidentiality of donor and staff records, manage medical communication logs, and review abnormal test results with the Center Medical/Lab Director. Attend to major reactions, evaluate donor injuries, and maintain medical supplies while ensuring staff practice universal precautions. Review complex medical cases and manage the Hepatitis B program for staff.
Required Qualifications
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician or equivalent
- Current CPR Certification
- Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a GMP environment with plasma or whole blood experience preferred but may also review candidate with related experience in a clinical setting providing medical care and assessing patients
