Job Summary
The Section Head, Emergency Medicine is responsible for physician leadership and operational oversight for the OMC–Westbank Emergency Department and the Marrero Freestanding Emergency Department, which manage over 75,000 patient visits annually. This role includes providing strategic leadership for high-quality emergency care, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of Emergency Medicine physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), driving quality, safety, and patient experience. Key responsibilities include aligning practice patterns with system standards, supporting provider recruitment and professional development, partnering with nursing to promote safety and compliance, collaborating with leadership to optimize performance, and demonstrating understanding of healthcare finance. This position requires clear and effective communication skills and adherence to ethical conduct.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO
- board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine
- Licensed Practicing Provider
- Credentialed and required to maintain active clinical practice
