Job Summary
Interpret diagnostic imaging modality exams including MRI, CT, Ultrasound, plain film, fluoroscopy, mammography, and nuclear scintigraphy. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assist and direct clinical care plans, and re-evaluate incoming studies of patients transferred from other facilities to determine diagnostic accuracy. Instruct radiology personnel in technique, position, and projection, while overseeing development of imaging service protocols to achieve best practice standards. Implement standard clinical practices and initiate new techniques, methods, and research protocols to evaluate imaging issues. Perform other duties as assigned. Standard duty day is 0830-1630 with intermittent evening swing shifts, morning readout shifts with residents, and overnight/weekend call (approximately 3-4 weekends per year). This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, within a specialized academic radiology practice with a GME program.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada
- Accreditation by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates
- Fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country
- Successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- At least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training
- Successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Diagnostic Radiology) equal to at least 4 years
